I like it. I like the way it turned out. It made me cry. Twice. So that's always a good sign. It totally needs a couple of rounds of editing (five might do it). And then it's on to the next book. No rest for the wicked.
I did a mock-up cover because I can't generally finish a book until I have one. I don't know why. It's like if I don't have one, I'll jinx myself. I know, it's weird.
It's a little plain, but I think it's Regency inspired. I might add some flourishes. I might change it entirely. I don't know. What do you think?
Here's the cover copy.
After nearly thirty-five years in the Army, Henry Wade, the
Marquess of Dunbury, finally returns to London
to officially claim his father’s title, hopefully to reunite with his long lost
love, and to exact revenge on the man who ruined his life. Add six orphaned
nieces into the mix, and suddenly, Henry’s life is upside down. Marrying them
off seems like a fine plan, but finding suita ble
husbands for them is an impossible task.
They all wis h
to marry for love.
I'm going to take the rest of this week to get Monster ready for school, and then start work on the next book. Christmas is only four months away.
REGRETS and RESPONSIBILITIES should be out in September sometime.

Congrats Anne! Yeah
So happy to see you're back in the saddle! I rather like the cover, it stands out from the others, which are much more feminine.
I wish I knew how to make a cover. I don't even know where to start!
Mac -- Thanks, man.
Bish -- Yeah, because this is a new series, I wanted a different look. I like the plain, but I also like the flourishes too. This feels unprofessional, which my other covers were, but what do you want from me? Simple is the best I can do.
Simple covers aren't that hard. Just open Paint in Word and play with it. Or ask a 12 year old to help you. They know everything.
Congrats on the finish and for having a plan.
Yay! I like this cover...but...I'd like to see something that suggests the six nieces too.
Congrats on finishing. One of these days I'll get to say that. I have a feeling it won't be this week, though. :P
Susan -- Thanks. But we all know what happens to best laid plans.
Liza -- I had a cover, but because this book is all about Henry, he gets his own cover, and the 6 nieces get their own as well, and so does the governess. We'll see what else I can come up with.
Stacey -- Thanks. I'm in the editing phase now, but it's slow going. This is the worst part of it for me. Copy edit, line edit, grammar edit. UGH!
