Friday's at the Piedmont Grille

On Today's Menu -- Turtle Soup (and make it snappy.)

I don't know why that's on the menu. It's been stuck in my head for awhile. And no, I have never eaten it.

NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND was released to the world on March 1st. I am in the company of 22 of the best and brightest writers out there. You can pick up a copy from CreateSpace, Amazon, either in real or ebook form. ( OR go to Literary Lab for the particulars.) All proceeds go to charity.

Found this article The 10 Mistakes Writers Don't See. It was pretty good and I think you should take a look at it. Some of them are so common, you don't even see them. See?

Also Gary Baker is looking for mystery/suspense/thriller short stories for an anthology. If you'd like to check it out, go here.

By an overwhelming majority -- 16 to 5 -- the choice for Who Would You Choose was A. The comfortable man. 5 of you picked D. The non affectionate man. Nobody wanted the Bad Boy or the Ugly man. And I thought for sure, passion would at least be a contender. Hmmm.... guess I better change my thought process for the next book.

And by the by, I have an addendum to add to my Regency Rank & File post. The correct way to address a Duchess is 'your ladyship' not 'your Grace'. That is only for a Duke. Thank you to the lovely Francine who knows all things aristocratic for pointing that out to me.

I'll see you all on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Yay, I'm in the majority when it comes to what we want it a guy. Though I would have been happy to move things around and create the new perfect guy. ;)

Thanks for the great link, Anne. Hopefully I make zero of those mistakes, but I have a feeling that's too much to hope for.

Comfortable is the best. Think of a pair of shoes. All shiny and new with spiked heels and pointy toes, are not comfortable for around the house, running errands, working in the yard, or taking the dog for a walk in the woods. You want comfort for that.

Thanks to the link to the article Anne! Have a great week-end yourself.

Stina -- I think the majority of us will take comfortable over any of the others anyday.

Bish -- I've never worn spike heels -- I Owned a pair once, but I never wore them. Have a great weekend.

Very interesting. I always thought 'your grace' was reserved for Kings. Maybe that's just in Fantasy novels.

Personally, I like turtle soup.

I've never tried turtle soup either, but I like your snappy version of it!

Great article. I definitely have issues with repeats, not only words, but ideas that crop up that have nothing to do with theme or symbolism. I'm always looking to crop these out in final drafts.

Liza -- I thought so too.

Matthew -- Nope, dukes too.

Kelly -- Wow. Okay. Someday I'll have to try it then.

Linda -- My father used to say that when we were kids and he was hungry.

Alex -- Don't think of them as mistakes, think of them as misprints.

Christine -- Don't feel bad, I couldn't decide either.

Sherrie -- Thanks. I can't wait to get some extra money so I can get a copy.

Angela -- I'm finding as I go along in my ms. the symbolism is getting harder to justify. Revisions will be key. Thanks for stopping by.

Repeats are my weakness. I genuinely can't see them because they're my own speech patterns. But other people sure can.

Loved the survey. And I can't wait to read your Underground piece!

Oh, I came in too late! I was having a hard time between the comfortable man and the ugly man - love the idea of passion, but not sure what you meant by "he expects perfection".

Bad boy sounds good when we're young but not when we're older. And if we score one, we find he's too much trouble!

Oh man- the "make it snappy" now has given me a visual of turtle soup I do not want. lol.

If there are 10 mistakes writers don't see, I'd better have a look.

But first I'm putting your book in my Amazon shopping cart!
