Drum Roll Please

As of 11:32am on Monday morning, I finished my manuscript. TA DA! I totally blew off all the stuff I was supposed to do and sat down and finished it. I cried like a baby, yes I did, when I wrote those two little words. The End.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to each and every one of you who have given me support over the last few months. I could not have asked for a better cheering squad than you guys. This blogging community is so full of awesomely talented people and I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you.

I can now help my mother with a clear conscious. lol. I'm taking the rest of the week to do all the things I didn't do on Monday, and will hopefully start on edits next week. I've been revising as I've gone along so there isn't much to do in that sense, however, I've got those nasty line edits. I think those are the most time consuming.

I will also be making my way back around the blogs to visit. I've been so busy trying to get this ms. done, I've neglected you all and I'm sorry. But you all know how it goes. The writing comes first.

THANK YOU again, so much for your kindness and support. It really means the world to me.

Now, I'm off to unscrew the cabinet doors for Mommy Dearest. I'll see you all on Friday at the Grille.

Love you!

Hooray! Anne, that's fantastic news. 'The End' - two little words that have so much determination and effort behind them. I hope you find time to celebrate a little between unscrewing cabinet doors and starting on edits. Let's start here - Congratulations!

Jayne -- Isn't that funny, I never thought of celebrating. I keep thinking about line edits and tweaking the ending a tad. Maybe I will. Thank you.

Laura -- It took a long time to acknowledge it, but writing MUST come first.

Woohoo!!!! Congrats on the completion!!! It's been busy here with random stuff....life happens. And you're right, the writing has to come first.

Have fun with the reno!

That's quite an accomplishment! What a great feeling that must be. Congratulations, Anne!

Becky -- That's the one thing I've learned -- The writing HAS to come first.

Suzie -- Thanks so much! I'm giddy all over.

Yay, Anne! There is nothing quite so uplifting, yet somewhat depressing, about being able to type out those two little words.

Just wait until you have to write the query letter for this one. Oh . . . I probably should have let you bask in the glory of the moment a little bit longer.

Anne Gallagher said...

Tracy -- The query letter has been written since January 19th. It came to me one day and I hastily wrote it down. My sticking point in the synopsis, but I outlined this book and stuck to it, so it shouldn't be too hard.

So awesome. I knew you could do it. It's so nice to have a clear conscious. So great.
Have a great day!

Christine -- I'll tell you what. I feel SO FREE, like I've just been let out of a dungeon. Have a great day too!

Congrats! I know what you mean about weeping over writing "the end"--it's a mixture of elation and relief and beginning to miss your beloved characters already.

Anne Gallagher said...

Laurel -- You are so right. It's devastating to think I may never see them again. But, in all my books, characters come and go into each story so it's nice I get to visit with them again.

Congrats!!!! The first draft isn't my favorite part, so I'm always thrilled when it's finished.

Now you get to do the fun stuff. Edit. :D

Hooray Anne, for sticking to it! Now, as a result of reading this post, this is the last blog post I'm allowing for the day. Yup, back to "real" writing!

Anne Gallagher said...

Stina -- Oh yes. My favorite part. I also have to write the synopsis too. And that is just plain yuck.

Stephen -- Thanks. I get to unscrew cabinets today. That's about as crazy as I get these days.

Liza -- And I am thinking exactly the same thing. Time to get off the blogs.

Congrats! Now all you to do is start querying that beast ... ;)

And yes, I got a bit teary-eyed when I finished mine, too. It's one hell of an achievement to write a novel. No matter how many times one has done it. Best of luck. And I honestly mean that.

Yay!!! Many, many congratulations!!!!! :D Look out publication, here comes Anne! :)

Thank you so much everyone! This really means a lot to me. You guys are the best.

I can't remember if I did a dance or not. I think after I wiped my tears I may have screamed a little bit, gave a woo-woo or something.

I do need to celebrate. Maybe I'll go out and buy something nice. Like a new hoe. Or shovel. Maybe I'll splurge and get both.
