Crazy Weekend

Good Morning everyone. I hope your weekends were fantastic and you had fun and didn't sweat. Oh. My. God. Will anyone hate me if I said I wish it would snow? It is just too hot now. And it's not even August.

Thanks to you who wished me well with this latest partial request. I'm not sure what to make of it myself, it's a weird little story, but I'll keep you posted.

Any-hooo, the people next door to us got a puppy who sleeps outside. Because I sleep with my windows open, I hear the puppy crying all night long. (Poor thing, I feel so bad for him.) Anyway, I got up at ungodly hours and started writing. Six thousand and some words poured out of me on Saturday. I got another 4K done on Sunday. I'm at 50K now and so excited I could pee my pants. Of course, this is without revisions and it's only a first draft but it's there.

I've settled Robby and Lauren's problems.
I've set-up the major conflict between Tony and Pete (which is awesome, if I do say so myself).
I've laid some more ground work to make Genna doubt Tony really is the jerkface that everyone thinks he is (which, yeah, if you read it, you'd be wondering about Tony too, especially after what Angie told her.)
I've almost gotten Angie and Michael back together (No small feat considering what a bitch Angie is).
And did I mention I gave Genna a totally different reason for coming home? A reason that will tear her absolutely in two when she has to make the decision to leave.

And that's about it. What did you do over the weekend? Any requests for partials or fulls? Any writing done? Any fun to be had? I live vicariously through you.

Congratulations on the request!
I had a really productive weekend on the WIP!

I'm glad you got so much writing done! I normally get up at ungodly hours and get my best writing time in before anyone else wakes up, but since the kids are off school for the summer I've been going to bed late and waking up late. I miss my morning writing time so much! This morning I did wake up super early and I've been making some revision progress.

Your book sounds like it's going really well - good luck!

And that poor puppy. If it's so hot there, he's probably too uncomfortable to sleep in his fur coat. I'd cry, too. :(

Wow! You were busy with the writing! I got my head around how to post every day, I had the time but not the inclination.
sshh! *whispering An agent requested the book in full - and emailed again when I was a day late with the response. I'm taking that as a good sign.

Good for you! I haven't written anything new in weeks...

Way to go with the writing!!!

I didn't get much writing done. I started reading a book I suddenly couldn't put down, but I did manage to write a new scene for my wip (at a beta reader's suggestion). Now I only have 2 more new scenes to add (I hope), and edit the rest of the ms to allow for them. :D

YAY for the request and double YAY for the awesome writing accomplishments made this weekend! :)

I got nothing done. I did manage to find an hour to send out a few queries yesterday, but for the most part I hung out with my kids and my parents.

Good for you in getting so much writing done. Perhaps I need to be awoken by a crying puppy so I can do the same.

The weekend here was filled with golf and writing. Both had their moments and disasters ;)

Wow, who knew a crying puppy could have such spectacular results!
(Me? I'd be having a chat with my neighbors.I likes my sleep.)
Dude, you made some serious lemonade. :)

It was triple digits HOT here, so we stay submerged in the pool almost the entire weekend. I don't know how you're doing this summer w/out AC.

Happy Monday, my friend!
Love,
Lola

I did get some writing done, but it was mostly RE-writing so not quite as exciting as new writing, but still progress.

Awesome for writing so much! So sad for the little puppy. :(

I'm excited because a huge box of Cinders is on its way to me!

holy crap! you're on fire!

maybe i need a puppy outside my window....on second thought - i cherish my sleep too much. i think i'll just go with locking my kids in the basement and blast my ipod. yep. that would do it.

I was in the mountains camping. Camping in 90-degree weather is NOT FUN. But I also wrote some, around 5:50am, when the noisy neighbor campers were being impolite...

You tease me with your Genna and Tony hints! Tease!!

Yea for all your writing...but please...no snow. As hot as it is...the though of winter makes me want to cry.

I am very impressed with your word output. I so wish I had the creative push that you got to experience.

I spent the weekend with my best friend. Lots of talking and movies and sugar.... And I bought a new laptop with money I don't have. Always smart.

I don't hate you for saying it should snow but I absolutely can't agree with you. I struggle through all year for these gloriously hot days of summer so I am not going to complain, no matter how uncomfortable I may get.

Love you.

That's amazing, Anne! Go go go! Who knew a puppy crying all night could have such productive results?

I worked on a new project; played ping pong and relaxed. A good weekend all around!

Sure that was a puppy? it could have been your muse.

I love when that happens and I'm so impressed that you got up to write instead of complaining about the noise.

You got so much writing done! I'm excited for you. I wish I was where you are...I'm on-call for a neighbor friend who gave birth to a preemie 10 days ago (I'm watching her kids, driving her to the hospital, running errands, etc.) I just can't concentrate on my writing, even though it's about driving me crazy. I'm getting that spooked feeling that I've forgotten the story, the characters, how to write. Wish me luck, I need it!

You've had a very productive weekend! I'm so impressed & can relate to it.

Don't wish for cold weather, the heat is making you more creative. So is that puppy making all that noise. Sometimes when we're surrounded by distraction instead of getting annoyed & caving in, we create. Clearly, that's what you did. You made the most out of your weekend, that's for sure!

Maybe you can celebrate w/ a Ben & Jerry's... check out this:

I am impressed with your productivity, especially considering the heat. Bring the snow!!! I did a Calvin and Hobbes post yesterday with some of their snowmen...it was funny. We worked on getting the insides of our house more completed. Now, aside from major stuff (renovation and some more painting) we're pretty much done for a while. No writing done. No reading done. We'll see what the week brings...

Good luck with the query and the character updates were very interesting...

Does the puppy have shelter?

Aww I feel so bad for the new puppy next door.

That's awesome that you got so much writing done! Go you! I finally outlined my next book yesterday, so I guess I've been a bit productive as well.

And while I couldn't go for snow, I am done with this heat!

That's what I call a productive weekend! Too bad a puppy had to suffer for it. :)

Wow, congrats on the partial request!

Also, it sounds like you had a remarkably productive weekend. That's great. I'm very impressed.

Dawn Simon said...

Congrats on the productive weekend! :) It sounds like lots of people got a ton of writing done last Saturday and Sunday. I didn't. I shopped and chilled with the family, but I needed the break!

YAY FOR PARTIAL REQUEST! YAY FOR WRITING! YAY FOR BEING PRODUCTIVE?

How was I?

Unproductive in the writing area, not to worry I'm making up for it today! Lots of revising after work. Instead I came up with two new sexy ideas while enjoying the nice beach air and seeing the new movie Inception.

BTW - Stop by to see what Stella looks like :)

Fantastic - all that lovely writing pouring out of you! I had a lovely weekend with a friend, but am feeling very wooly-headed with my writing. I just cannot, cannot do anything with it at the moment. I just sit blank-eyed at the computer. It is so frustrating! But it will pass, oh yes. I am determined!

I wish it would snow too! This heat and humidity is deadly. I was awake in the middle of the night recently, and since my first revisions had just come back, I decided to stop trying to get back to sleep and I outlined what to do with the revisions. That's great that you got so many words written. You just have to get that draft down, in whatever form. Hooray for you!

I've been dreaming of snow. Crazy, but I hate the heat.

Poor little puppy. That's tough, but at least you were able to write. Congrats on all you've accomplished. (You might think about getting earplugs though, just so you can get some sleep.)

I had a wonderful weekend. I was able to pick up my baby(book) from my publish. There's nothing like holding your creation in your hands.

Sounds like you're well on your way to seeing your dream come true, too.

Noooo, no snow! ;)

I made a major dent in my MS over the weekend, as you already know, but have done much these past couple days.

Wow!!! Your word counts are incredible!!! And I agree with you about snow; I am melting over here!! Your progress sounds so exciting :) You are definitely motivating me!
