Something - Something

Well, besides having problems with the modem, the power went out yesterday for almost 8 hours -- all day as a matter of fact. Thank you so much for the kind words on my guest appearance over at Guide to Literary Agents. A big shout-out to Chuck Sambuchino who is the best!!! I didn't even know about it otherwise I would have told you all that that was the big surprise I was keeping a few weeks ago. Anyway, if you haven't read it, it's there, if you have, yes, it was cut somewhat due to word limitations. I also can't link, (stupid computer) and don't have the address but I'm sure you all know where to find it.

I'm on my mother's lap top (shh, don't tell) to post this as the new modem hasn't arrived and I can't stand it. My fingers don't want to work.

Because of this whole funky internet/power outage/modem stupid thingy craziness I've been going through, I'm praying to whatever God hasn't left for Antarctica (because here in the south it's been hell) that I will be able to correspond with you all on Friday. There were some questions asked, thoughts given, ideas presumed, you know how it goes. And I can't not respond.

Okay, so here we go with more of Genna & Tony...This is the the follow-up to last week when Pete stops at the diner for coffee. Sorry for those of you who thought I was going to post the Genna & Tony having sex scene, nope, sorry not this week.

Please note this will only be posted for two days (due to the paranoia of the author). And remember this is a first draft.

Rating -- PG 13 *******

Sorry this post has been removed by the author.

Wow what an interesting and awful day you had yesterday! Lets hope the power stays on all day today! No need for any more trouble! I'm glad you'll get your modem soon! I'd be going crazy!

So I'm sad I didn't get to see the Genna & Tony sex scene but I'm not disappointed in what I read anyway!! This was great, I love your kissing scenes, they are awesome! Genna is someone I really enjoy reading about, I feel like she's my friend. You write beautifully!

Thank you so much for your kind words today! You are always a sweetheart but today was extra special. I appreciate that you think my blog is great and the advice you gave me was wonderful! I couldn't have asked for better encouragement... seriously! Thanks for giving me confidence in times when I can't always give it to myself!

Jen -- I'll tell you what, you don't know how much you miss something until you can't have it. A forced blog break is not cool.

Maybe next week for the sex before I leave for vacation. It's only fair right?

And you're welcome. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. And I just happen to be one of those people who'll slap you on the back of the head and say, "Look, it's right there."

Sorry to hear about your woes. I guess my positive vibe sending is not working a whit. Stupid positive vibes.

I never thought about giving a rating to my blog. That's great. Let your readers know this is a PG13 blog ... not for the weak. Hope you get your modem situation worked out. And I won't tell your mom (wink).

I read your post this morning. I loved it! Great timing since I'm about to start querying. (I'm at #2 on your list). I'm linking it to Cool Links Friday this week. :)

Loved the excerpt and still sorry to hear about your internet/modem woes. We're dealing with storms here so I totally understand your frustration at not being able to get on when you want. There's a huge difference between a self-imposed Net break and one that you have no control over.

Congrats on your article!! That's so wonderful.

Love the G&T(or should it be G&P?) excerpt! I'm liking Pete...

Anne, you, my dear, are a master of dialogue. You do (write) other things well too but for me when your characters speak it really rings true!

Mmm, peppermint & coffee. I like that.

Christi -- Don't fret, I'm sure they're working, just getting caught up in all the atmospheric craziness going on lately.

Stephen -- Thanks for not telling my mom. She'd kill me. I only do the rating for my exerpts though, sometimes they get a little out of control.

Stina -- How sweet are you for linking! Thanks so much. And best of luck to you as you start on the grand adventure in queryland! Just remember, it's not personal!

Jaydee -- O.M.G. I hate not being able to 'talk' to my 'friends'. I think the situation has mercifully straightened itself out. I pray. Mightily.

Summer -- Thanks so much! Pete is a definite hottie!

Matthew -- Thank you good sir for your very kind words. They mean a lot. I was telling a friend I wish I could write a whole book with just dialogue. It might not ever get pubbed but it would be good.

Rena -- It was one of my fondest memories from way back when so I thought I should use it. Glad you liked.

I love the excerpt and the dialogue is really fantastic. I hate when technology fails, like my modem did not that long ago. And yes the south has been undeniably miserable and hot! Hope you have a great day :) and things get smoother.

I'm glad your mom's laptop worked because I enjoyed reading the excerpt :)

Your writing is so natural. Honestly, do you have to work that hard to write it? I like the way it flows and the dialogue is great.

Thanks for you advice on my blog today--words of wisdom to live by!

...great excerpt Anne:) Someone's gonna get lucky! You place the reader right into the scene, sensing the intensity of the moment. Well done.

...and computers are a necessary evil. Love 'em, hate 'em, love 'em...

Okay, I am in a hurry, buty will be bcak to read :). Have a great day, Anne.

Erica -- Thanks. Crazy thing called technology! Trying to post before the thunder storm hits.

Sherrie -- Me too!

Lydia -- I only do what my characters tell me to do.

Sarah -- Yes my lovely, next week as a matter of fact, right before I go away.

Amie -- Well, stick around. There's more to come.

Elliot -- Well, I hope the lucky one is me when this is done and I get an agent. Thanks for the compliments.

Amy -- C'mon back, I'll be here.

Hope you get all the problems resolved by Friday. And yes, hell is a good description of the heat in the south right now.

Piedmont Writer said...

Alex -- Isn't it the worst? I've never wished for rain in my life except this week.

Ed Pilolla said...

i dig that genna said she only smokes when she's nervous. i like that real moment there a lot. very nice dialogue. rings true.

Piedmont Writer said...

Ed -- Thank you. It's funny you should mention that because she's lying to him. She smokes all the time, she just doesn't want him to think she does.

Sorry to hear about the power problems you've been having. That sucks. But thank you for such a sweet scene between Pete and Genna. they are just so cute together. :)

Piedmont Writer said...

Sarah Jayne -- Well, we'll see just how cute next week shall we?

Liza said...

Loved your scene. What a great way to start the day!

Piedmont Writer said...

Liza -- Thanks so much.

Love, love, love the excerpt. I feel like it's going to be a glorious day now too.

I hope to see more. Thanks for posting it. I'm just glad I made it here in time before it was removed.

The heat, humidity and ozone have been playing havoc with my allergies!!! Sorry your computer situation is still funky...but I loved the post. Your writing is so REAL, it's like eavesdropping on real people-very impressive! Hope your vacay is someplace cool and shady....
