I followed my nose yesterday afternoon and found this guy, J.M. Tohline, and he wrote this unbelievable post on the BIGGEST MISTAKES WRITERS MAKE WHEN THEY QUERY.
You need to read this whether you've queried before or not. He polled 100 agents and got their responses to what makes and breaks a query letter.
Go here now.
And then, when you're done there, go to his follow up post at the end. It's definitely worth the read.
That is all.

Anne, just left JM's post. Loved it! Informative, and a bit funny. (can't believe the miscues some of us have attempted:)
Thanks Anne, you're the best!

Hi Anne. I've popped over there already and have bookmarked it to read later. It is a fantastic post though - will definitely check it out and hope I haven't made any of those errors!
Thanks, Anne. Groan. Without even reading it, I know I've probably made of those mistakes. Have a great day, Roland
Now that is awesome. Thanks for posting, Anne!
Hey Anne, awesome info isn't it? I had linked to it as well. Great minds....;)It's pretty incredible that he got so many responses to his poll.

Thanks a million for pointing this out Anne. What a great post.
On my way!
I read the post and am most impressed with the extensive insights JM has provided. Thank you for the link.
Thanks for the link!
Wow, that gave me a headache *laugh* and reminded me why I know I'm not cut out for the machinery of the 'business'.
My hat is off to anybody who can do all those conflicting things to submit to agent after agent and still maintain some sanity. Thanks Anne for posting this- I will keep it in mind to pass on to friends who are still in the fray!
I wonder, and I find myself wondering why I wonder this...why this author didn't seem to post anywhere on his blog that the title of it is a line of Beatles lyrics?!? Seems to me that might be kind of an important thing to acknowledge. But then, you know me, I'm weird...
hugs!

Ooooh, you don't have to tell me twice! i'm on my way!
