Sexy Blue Toenails

Good morning. You might wonder what sexy blue toenails have to do with the topic of love. Well, I'll tell you.

Now, I was never a Christie Brinkley, Elle MacPhearson kind of girl but I had my own mojo when it came to being attractive. I was Rubenesque, Zoftig, pleasingly plump in all the right places. I had curves. I was also toned and had great muscle placement. I could turn a head or two in my day.

Hitting middle age has definitely shown me what gravity is all about. Trying not to be too pessimistic about what I look like these days, I try and remember the old adage -- what I lack in beauty, I make up in wisdom. Most days it doesn't matter what I look like. Although now it's summertime, I would like to get into a bathing suit that doesn't have triple digits for a size.

My one consolation, I've always had great feet. I've always painted my toenails a deep red in summer. What is it the make-up gurus say, "Show off your assets." While at the dollar store, Monster Child spied some nail polish and I consented. Her choice of colors were florescent chartreuse, navy blue with sparkles, and a pink that I did not care for. We got home and she happily painted her toes chartreuse and her fingers pink. (Matching her dress for church -- my mother was aghast.)

Any-hoo, she kept bugging me to paint my toes. My red was chipped and fading, so I decided, on a whim, to paint them the navy blue with sparkles as a lark. Why the hell not? It's not like the fashion police were going to arrest me.

They actually looked quite sexy, if I do say so. A couple of days later, I had to get gas and walked into the Hess station, not even aware what I looked like. Same old me, navy blue shorts, pink top, white Dr. Scholl's (the wooden ones from 25 years ago). The Pepsi driver was standing in my way, so I said "Excuse me," and tried to sidle by him. He looked me up and down, flicked me a weird expression, and looked down again at my feet. And then he smiled at me, I mean really smiled and said, "No, excuse me." And looked down again at my feet . Hmmm.

I suppose one can never really tell what another person will find attractive. It's said you make up your mind about someone within 3 seconds of seeing them. I wonder what he thought about my toes. (Then again, maybe I don't.)

Tell me -- What attracts you to another person? Is there one definable aspect you look at first? What grabs you in 3 seconds?

When checking out a guy, I think the most attractive thing for me is beautiful white teeth and clean hands. Crazy huh?
Then of course add the baby blues and black wavy hair, tall, handsome and that describes the man I fell in love with. Muscles galore. Yes, he was the man in his day. Both our "days" have passed.
BUT I love the new colors of nail polish and I agree that blue with sparkles has to be sexy.
I've done the purple thing this summer. Went to writers meeting in lavender shirt, jeans, and lavender toes and got lots of compliments.
In the end it's what we each think of ourselves that's important. I loved the post. Brought me back to when I was a teen and how we looked each other up and down. How fun to have it happen now!!!
Blessings to you, Anne. I love your lighthouse. All lighthouses. They seem to be to be a beacon of hope in this sometimes dark world.

I love nail polish and I love playing around with colors. Right now I have a very colorful bright pink perfect for summer. But I do love the blue and sparkles.

3 seconds? Sounds about right. I wish we didn't judge so quickly but we just can't help ourselves it seems.

Laura -- Somehow I can see you in blue nail polish.

Barbara -- Oh, dream man! Lucky you. Up until last weeek, I never thought about wearing any other color but red. It's nice to break out of the mold. And I'll bet you looked fab in lavender.

Stina -- It's a life changing experience. Truly.

Jen -- I know, 3 seconds does seem too quick. But I suppose if there's a warm smile attached to those seconds, it's okay.

I remember those Dr. Scholl's sandals -- I loved mine.

Hmm. What screams sexy for me in 3 seconds? Hands, I think. I love manly hands. (Er, on a man, of course.)

bwahahaha! Foot fetishers beware! Navy Blue toes are on the loose. That's too funny but so true that you never know what people will find attractive. WHen I'm feeling particularly blah I know I can rely on my american accent to turn a head or two...usually. lol

and I didn't answer the question- eyes. Eyes eyes eyes eyes. That is all.

I LOVE to paint my toes funky colors!! Makes me feel pretty. :)

The eyes get me first. Then I love a sense of humor.

In 3 seconds - legs/height. It's the first thing I notice on a guy.

Love blue polish - had it on last week. This week I have a deep purple. ;D

:)! I love a good attraction story. Nice.

What attracts me starts with real, unrelenting eye contact. I love a man who will look into my eyes. Sigh...

Next he talks. A lot. Smiles. Humor and intelligence are huge.

Finally. Hands. OMG I love the look of my boyfriend's strong looking hands. I watch them all the time. He's a sexy guy, but his hands just sitting around doing nothing get me! They are that good :).

You never know what you'll find at the dollar store! I found some glittery candles once. No wait, that's the 99 Cents Only store which is even a better deal! :)

I see the eyes first. Most important part of any1.

I have those Dr Scholls shoes too! Now I need me some blue nailpolish, LOL!

I like putting on funky nail polish. I am entertained for hours just staring at my feet.

I like curly hair and a nice smile.

Since humor and intelligence are what keep me hanging around, first impressions usually don't count for for much. The most important thing is probably a kind vibe. Bad boys bore me. If I'm just going to look and lust? Strong arms, nice hands.

Hey! I'm wearing metallic blue nail polish on my toes right now! We're awesome!

He just confirmed the sexy feet thing - enjoy it!
And you really want to know what I notice on a woman first? Let's just say I prefer a view from the back side. Hey, what can I say?

For me, it's the eyes. Do their eyes smile? Even if an individual isn't smiling, but their eyes are lively when they speak--that tells me a lot about them and determines if I will engage them or allow myself to be engaged.

My feet are my ugliest feature. Stubs for toes, barely any nail at all, and when they grow, they grow into my skin so I have to keep them nipped. My feel are thick and square, and finding comfortable shoes, let alone pretty shoes, is near impossible. But I always liked seeing painted toes on other girls. It is sexy.

What attracts me to other people is their laugh. How a person laughs and what they find funny is a very important tell as to what kind of person they are.

Blue polish must suit you. Enjoy it!

Dr. Scholl's! Man, it's been forever since I've even thought about those. And I'll just bet they looked snazzy w/ your navy blue toes...at least that's what Mr. Pepsi thought, eh?

I have no idea what attracts me in 3 seconds. Lately its been a guy who can pull off facial hair. Wait, haha, I just re-read that---you know that I didn't mean, like, a guy who works at a waxing salon, right? ;)

Linda -- Hands. Oh yes. Carpenter hands, that can play the piano.

Katie -- That's funny. That's why people stare at me in the store, I have such a bad accent.

Jennifer -- Eyes with crinkly corners like they're always smiling.

Tara -- Height is good. Over 6 feet is excellent. Legs only if I can see them in shorts.

Amy -- Intelligence is always a turn on. Even if I have no idea what he's talking about.

Lisa -- I think the eyes are having it.

Lydia -- Dr. Scholl's rock.

Betty -- That's funny, I sat and stared at my feet too. A nice smile always works for me.

VR -- Vibes can make or break a person in 3 seconds.

Sarah -- We ARE awesome!!

Alex -- You devil you!!

Bridget -- So true. I love crinkly eyes.

Donna -- You are so funny. I actually look at other women's feet and compare mine. Secretly.

Susan -- That's wonderful. I enjoy a hearty laugh myself.

Nicki -- LOL. I know what you meant. I can deal with a mustache but not a beard.

I think people would look at me if I wore any nail polish. The only time I do wear it is if I have a bruised toe nail that needs covering. But you may have converted me but I might start with pink.

Hehehe! I love my feet, too. One of my only favorite things about myself! I need to paint my toenails, and blue with sparkles sounds fantastic. Next time I'm at the store... :)

Patti -- Pink is always a great color for toes. Not too flashy, just a nice hint of color.

Michelle -- Blue with sparkles is so much fun. Darcy will love it too!
