Friday's at the Piedmont Grille

On Today's Menu -- Watermelon. That's it. Just Watermelon. It's too dang hot to eat anything else.

Okay, first up, as you all know, Blogger has been giving me fits. Fits, I tell you. And I just found out, not only can I not sign in, I have lost blogs I follow on my blog roll. I don't really keep track, because I follow so many of you, and a bunch of you are on hiatus -- BUT I got a letter from a friend the other night who said, "Where have you been? I see you all over everyone else's blogs comments, but you never come here anymore. Did I do something wrong, or offend you in any way?"

OMG. I had no idea. No, no one has offended me. I am not mad at anyone. It's stupid Blogger. I have no idea how many of you I obviously have not been around to lately, so please, please, please, if you haven't seen me in awhile, let me know in the comments and I will try and rectify the situation. (It seems I have to reenter you back into my blogroll. But you're already there.) Stupid Stupid Blogger!!!! And if I don't follow you and you've been following me for awhile, it may be because you don't have a link to your blog on your Friend Connect thingy. So leave me your blog address in the comments and I'll get on it. I follow everyone back.

Okay, second up, I got hit in the head with the opening to Robert's story the other night as I was going to bed. I memorized the first 3 sentences and actually remembered them the next day, wrote them down, and came away with 2600 words. Robert is the Duke of Cantin, for all of you who may be wondering, cousin to Ellis and William, and the Regency hero who I haven't been able to find a story for for the last 3 years. Everyone else has their story, even the new guy, Rory has a story, but poor Robert has been languishing. I thought for awhile to make him a spy, but since I've been rewriting MASQUERADE, I gave that story to William.

I've also put a little spin on this book -- Robert and Fiona (that's the heroine and a fiesty Scottish lass she is) get caught in a compromising position right from page one and have to get married. Their journey is all about finding their way to love (well, naturally, but being married and all, it's not going to be as easy as they think). Because Robert doesn't want to be married to her and intends on an annulment. And that means he can't have sex with her. And let me tell you, how much fun is this going to be to write. Because Fiona is gor-ge-ous and she's his wife, so he's allowed to sleep with her, but he won't. And then, and then, oh, I can't tell you anymore. You'll just have to wait for the excerpts.

And third up, I was asked to do a guest post on how I query. I don't know when it will be, but I will keep you posted.

And so that's all I have from the Grille today. Here's a little tip. Remember to change the water for your pets if they're outside. I found out the hard way, when it's 95 outside, the cold water in their bowl heats up to 95 in about 2 hours. Yeah, I didn't know that either. My poor babies. Such a bad Mommy.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I found that I can log in as long as I uncheck the box that keeps you logged in. But most icons have now vanished...

Love watermelon and LOVE the tension of a husband who can't have sex with his gorgeous wife. good stuff. Your comments are coming through fine, thank goodness...cause I love when you comment. Have a cool weekend.

A clever twist on the usual romance plot.

Blogger has been a pest lately!

Laura -- And many a sleepless night!!

Ted -- I deleted a whole bunch of things from my desktop that I wasn't using so that's helped a ton. I never stay signed in, so I know that's not the problem. I'm also deleting a bunch of cookies too, so hopefully I'll have all the bugs worked out by next week.

Em -- Gotta love the summer melon season. And I'm just hoping no one steals my idea before I get it written. HA! This trope has been done so many times, well, I'll just put a spin on it.

Al -- Thanks. I'm trying. Blogger is a jerk lately.

I know I got frustrated with blogger and just gave up commenting for a while too. Looks like it's back to normal...for now. LOL
Have a great weekend!

Blogger has been giving me fits lately, too. I think they're updating their system or something, and the side effects are definitely annoying.

And is that your vision of Robert? Yummy!

Hot water is definitely not cool. ;)

I haven't had problems with Blogger since the melt down last week. In fact some of the problems from the previous melt down have been solved. The only problem I had this morning is that I slept in by 45 minutes (forget to turn on alarm clock) and Blogger unscheduled my post!!!!

Jennifer -- Have a great weekend!!

Linda -- Yes, that is Robert. And he is definately high on the yum factor.

Stina -- I think it's gremlins. They've invaded my space somehow. I'll fix it eventually.

Blogger bites, lately! Your rewrites sound so intriguing, Anne. Best of luck with the project! Hope you stay cool over the weekend -- we've had temps in the 90s all week too. It's gonna be a hot summer...!

I LOVE WATERMELON! So thanks!

I always, always love you to stop by my blog when you can, of course. But I understand busy-ness. Oy, do I understand!

And...and! Your story sound fantastic! I can taste the tension already! I LOVE seeing you so excited about your writing, Anne. It makes me really happy. :)

Oh fun! I love it when the characters are forced into a situation and 'fight the love'- its the best kind of tension.

Your book sounds delicious! And I mean that in a totally non-creepy and very want-to-read way. :) Also, I haven't seen you around for a while, but it just could be because I haven't written anything interesting...it's been rather hit and miss topic-wise. Why, oh why, did I decide to write 5 days a week?? :)

Crap, I need to check my blogroll now!
Glad you're on a roll with the new story.
And it's too hot for anything right now.

I hope that watermelon is refrigerated!

Blogger's been a little loopy this past month. Hope it's working OK for you now.

Your book sounds like it'll do extremely well. Looking forward to reading more about Robert & Fiona.

Blogger has been acting weird lately. Wah and boo on the issues that are plaguing us! Watermelon sounds yummy on a hot day!!

Sorry Blogger is not behaving for you! Pass the watermelon, please.

Yay! It's 95 out here as well! Sigh.
I'm excited to hear about robert's story. I always loved him from just the little bits i know about your whole story line, and that plot sounds great and full of tension!
I'm excited to read your guest post when it shows up

Blogger has been acting strange for me too, I keep seeing an error page when I log in, and then have to feed in the url in the browser manually. Hope it is not planning to eat my blog..*panic*

Your story sounds interesting.....and yes, finding love in marriage is a little tricky, lol

Look forward to your guest post!

You story sound yummy, but geez, Louise! The next time you come up with something really really good at night, don't memorize it, for goodness sake! Write it down! (OK, so your young memory may be better than mine, but still, trying to keep those three sentences in your head might disturb your beauty sleep!)

And a side note to Melody: Why not do what I did when I decided to blog five days a week: UNDECIDE! Now, I do three, and even that's pushing it at times.

MIchelle -- I said, Prince Henry? That's Robert. And of course, you're right, that is indeed Prince Henry.

Nicole -- Thanks. It is going to be a hot summer and I can't decide on a trip home to the beach for 10 days or a really big swimming pool all summer.

Michelle -- I'm trying to be excited about a lot of things as you know. We'll see how it goes.

Katie -- Ellis has to fight it a little bit last year, but Robert is going to have to fight it a lot. It's going to be fun.

Melody -- I will look into it.

Alex -- I don't really understand how anyone can live in NC in the summertime. Really.

Lisa -- Thanks. Watermelon is best eaten cold. Nothing like it.

Christine -- I'm hating Blogger lately.

Betty -- Here you go.

Sarah -- Yvie must be in Heaven outside. Thanks for the encouragement. Tuesday she said is the guest post.

Damyanti -- That is EXACTLY what I've been going through with Blogger. Thank God I'm not the only one. NO offence.

Susan -- I have a problem, once I get into bed, I can't get out. I don't keep pad and Paper by the side b/c Monster Child uses it for her own writing and I can't tell you how many pads I go to use and find there's no paper left. It's all good, I now have 10k words, 8 of them from Saturday.

Ricardo -- Thanks. However I don't read Spanish, so I can't follow you or understand what you're trying to say.

We've had 70-degree weather lately, so more manageable than what you're experiencing.

How cool you memorized 3 lines. I would've gotten up and written them because there's no way I'd remember them the next day!

I hope Blogger troubles are over now. Enough already!

Elliot Grace said...

...no worries, Anne. Blogger's been acting up on me as well. It's never easy promoting one's new release with a marketing tool who's mis-behaving!

Good luck on the re-write:)
