Friday's at the Piedmont Grille

On the Menu Today -- A blogfest I missed.

While I was on hiatus the fabulous Nicole Ducleroir held the Bernard Pivot Blogfest. I love Inside the Actors Studio and the last time I saw it, Denis Leary was the guest. (Shows you how long it's been since I've had cable.)Anyway, I thought I might participate, better late than never.

What is your favorite word? Hope.

What is your least favorite word? Alzheimers.

What turns you on creatively, spritually, or emotionally? The ocean.

What turns you off? Mediocrity.

What is your favorite curse word? F*ck.

What sound or noise do you hate? The dentist drill.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Actor.

What profession would you not like to do? Police officer.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Welcome back.

I also wanted to say, hey, I finally made 250 friends, Corinne hit it on Tuesday. Welcome Corinne, it's nice to have you here. And Renae who came in at 251 on Wednesday. Welcome welcome.

I'm over 62K words on Ellis and Violet's story, 2/3rds done. I'm very excited as I want to finish. As soon as I'm done with MisMATCHED, I'm pulling MASQUERADE back out again and revising the snot out of it. I will query MisMATCHED this spring and see what happens. Revising MASQUERADE will keep me busy. Well, that's the plan anyway.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Good luck with revisions. I've got 50 pages left for the first round of revisions on WiP #1. I'm thrilled and scared because I know it needs more. One step at a time.
I missed that blogfest too. Great answers.
HAve a great weekend!

Christine -- The problem with the revisions is that MASQUERADE was supposed to be the first book in the series and now that I've written MisMATCHED, I have to change a whole bunch of things around. EWWWWW! But I'll get there.

I love this blogfest. Great answers!

Good luck with the revisions, Anne.

The job I wouldn't want to do ties in with the sound you hate. Dental hygienist. What a boring, yucky job. :P

Nice answers. Totally agree with the dentist's drill! Good luck with your revisions, and have a great weekend!

That's great you'll be querying soon!
Good luck with those revisions!

Matt -- Thanks.

Stina -- Yeah, I'd hate to be having to stick my hands in someone's mouth all day.

Lydia -- Have a Great Weekend.

Jennifer -- Hope to be querying AGAIN by the end of March, maybe April. Thanks.

Hope...Thank goodness Pandora let her out of the box!

It's good you have a project lined up to work on while you're querying -- keeping busy makes all the waiting easier to take. That helps, especially if you (like me) aren't blessed with the patience gene. ;)

Aleeza said...

congrats on the 250 followers! and good luck on the project.
i really like the conciseness of your BP answers. mines were a bit long, hehe. hope is such a pretty word, btw. :)

I've always thought the dentist wouldn't be so bad if you couldn't hear anything - or smell.

It's always good to have more eggs in the basket. Good luck.

I am off to the dentist in just a few minutes. Rats.

Revise the snot out of that manuscript! I thought I was the only one who used that expression!

Congrats on your followers, and wow! You sure are busy. And hmm? My blog today was about mediocrity. And then that was one of the answers above. All I'm saying is, hmmm?

ooh we have the same favorite swear. It's just so moldable. You can use it so many different ways

Congratulations on hitting 250! And I HATE the sound of a dentist's drill. All these advancements in science and medicine and they still have to DRILL. And pick! Hate that as well.

Spring is coming soon - good luck with the querying of MisMATCHED. I'm on my second novel and third children's book, but I do not yet feel ready to query, so I'm trying to be patient and continue to learn the craft.

Have a lovely weekend. :)

Bish -- What would we do with out it?

Linda -- I'd just go crazy without something to do besides wait.

Aleeza -- thanks. And it is pretty isn't it?

Patti -- No kidding huh? I wish they'd do something about that.

Betty -- I believe we are of the same generation although you may be a little younger than me.

Em-- I tried to get to your blog this morning but for some reason it froze up. I meant, mediocrity in my own life.

Sarah -- adjective, adverb, noun, pronoun, infinitive, conjunction, the list is endless...

Alex -- Thanks. And you would think so wouldn't you? Or at least some kind of magic spray or gel or something.

Anne Gallagher said...

Michelle -- I hope you're right. The robins are usually a tell-tale harbinger.

Oh wow, congratulations on hitting 252 friends! I just started blogging last year and never realized how hard it was to gain followers. I hope I eventually get to the stage you're in. Congratulations again!

Yay! I loved this blogfest, and I love the word hope. And a big congrats on getting over 250 followers! :) Hope you have a great weekend.

Anne Gallagher said...

nutschell -- It's hard but you gotta work at it. And then it get's easier. Be careful what you wish for. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.

Talli -- I was going to name Monster Child Hope, but picked a better name instead. Have a great weekend.

That reminds me--I need to get busy with some major revisions...
Have a great weekend, Anne!

Robins always tell me to perk up : spring is coming. I love your answers. And revisions are like root canals, necessary evils! Brrrr. Have a great weekend, Roland

Just the idea of the dentist drill made me cringe, maybe because I know I have to go in soon. Blecch.

Happy weekend!

Deniz Bevan said...

Congratulations on all your followers!
I completely agree about the dentist's drill. And I love the images you have for your characters, in your previous post!

Anne Gallagher said...

Bridget -- Happy weekend. Good luck with your revisions.

Roland -- I said something about robins and spring today too. Thanks for stopping by, it's always nice to see you here.

Stephanie -- Good to see you too. I hate the dentist.

Deniz -- Thanks. And thanks for taking a peek at my characters.

I concur with the ocean ... it is awe inspiring and therapuetic. I love clam seas and a violent storm that brings all kinds of stuff up on shore. After every major storm we go to the beach because its so cool what washes up.

It was a great blogfest.

Ugh, I put Jack-hammer as my worst sound but you have just reminded me of what my real worst noise is.

Anne Gallagher said...

Elle -- Thanks.

Stephen -- I used to live on the beach and it is an amazing awesome place. Miss it bad.

Al -- Jack-hammer is good too, sounds like a great big dentist drill.

Revisiting the snot out of it-I love that!

I wish I'd participated in this. Still, it's been fun reading everyone's answers. MMmmmm, the ocean and Denis Leary. I saw a couple of his stand up shows on cable and he's really funny.

Anne R. Allen said...

Congrats on hitting 250! I love your answers. Especially about St. Peter.

Tracy said...

Better late than never. ;o)

My least favorite sound was the dentist drill, but now I go to a dentist who uses lasers rather than drills... and it doesn't have the same cringe inducing sound. Still doesn't mean I like going to the dentist though.

Anne Gallagher said...

Becky -- The ocean and Denis Leary together in the same place would be like Heaven to me.

Anne -- Thanks. Never thought I'd get there. At least that's what I'm hoping St. Peter'll say.

Tracy -- Oh, man, laser dentistry. Sign me up right now.
