Another Excerpt

Good morning. Happy Valentine's Day. I decided this time to post an excerpt from Violet's POV and see what you think.

Rating G -- Set-up -- Haverlane left to go back to London right after talking to Andrew Perry. Two days later, his mother, Violet's mother, Lady Penny (Haverlane's sister-in-law), and Violet's two youngest sisters show up at Fairhaven to make merry for Twelfth Night.

Sorry this excerpt has been removed by the author.

I watched Pride and Prejudice this weekend. This reminds me of Jane Austin.

Liza -- She's my hero.

Oh, poor Violet. I wished I knew more about their past, so I could be angry with the hero! LoL.

Nice job, Anne.

Justine -- Thanks. I've left the last two excerpts up this time so if you care to, just scroll down.

Poor Violet! But it seems she has an ally in Lady Penny.

Anne Gallagher said...

Bish -- Yes, Lady Penny is a very nice woman and thinks very highly of Violet. She plays behind-the-scenes to help Haverlane and Violet get together. Until she does the unthinkable and introduces Violet to another man to make Haverlane jealous. What will happen then, I wonder????

Aww, a bittersweet post for V-Day.

Hope Monster Baby is feeling better!

I love romance, I can see this is going there :)! Happy Valentine's Day, Anne!

Anne Gallagher said...

Tara -- Ah, Yes, Valentine's Day. I thought it might be appropriate to show love is not always a bed of roses.

Amy -- It will get there eventually. Happy V Day!

Great job as always.

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Anne Gallagher said...

Betty -- Thanks. How was your date with Ellis by the way??

What a great scene. I like the way the two women interact. That moment of acquaintances becoming closer is always interesting to me.

Domey -- Thank you so much. It's so nice when you stop by.

Great!
I can't remember if I told you this before, but I think you have a wonderful historical voice. :)

Anne Gallagher said...

Jennifer -- Thank you so much.

Oh, do you have any idea how long it's been since I read an historical romance? This was sooooo good; I felt I was there. You really nail dialogue. I want to go out and buy something romantic to read right now!

Happy Valentine's Day :)

Boy, times have changed. We don't come out of mourning looking for a new significant other anymore. Thank goodness.

Great job, Anne. :D

Anne Gallagher said...

Becky -- I left the other excerpts up if you care to look at those as well.

Stina -- Well, poor Ellis has actually been in mourning for two years, a whole year longer than is necessary. He didn't want a wife until he met Violet.

Tracy said...

Aw, poor Violet, my heart is breaking for her already. And I agree, this does feel very Jane Austin...which is meant as an absolute compliment. Well done, Anne!

Anne Gallagher said...

Tracy -- Thank you. I am honored by the compliment.

This is another wonderful sample of your writing. It is so in keeping with the period, and you paint Lady Violet so perfectly. You have such endearing characters--I'll bet you can draw a villain just as well...

Anne Spollen said...

Hi there, I just came over from Bish's blog and loved the picture on your blog. Then I read your excerpt and loved that, too. And your lovely first name...

Speaking of names, I think the names of these characters are so,so fitting. That's more important than I ever realized.

Anne Gallagher said...

Bridget -- Thank you so much. The only villain I have so far in this is Lady Georgiana Baxter. We'll see what you think.

Anne -- Hi, thanks for stopping by and your wonderful comments. It's a pleasure to meet you. Yes, I agree, names are almost as important as the plot.
