Friday's at the Piedmont Grille

On Today's Menu -- Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Fried Potatoes, Juice

Notice the menu is just a little plain. That's because I don't know how you eat. So you may fill in the blanks however you wish today. I know I wanted breakfast, and this is what I always order.

Two eggs over medium, extra bacon extra crispy, wheat toast w/ butter and jelly on the side (I eat it like dessert) home fries with onion not hash browns, and a small tomato juice.

I don't care what anyone says, adjectives are my friends. Especially for breakfast.

I wanted to say thank you to all my new followers and friends. I'm in the process of deciding where people will go. Because I have two blogs, I follow some people over there, and most of you over here. So If I haven't followed you back yet, it's just because I'm deciding where to put you, or someone else. I try to stay somewhat organized or all chaos breaks out (as it is now.) So don't fret. I'm just in the process that's all.

*****

I don't know if you'd be interested or not, but I put up an excerpt from my latest book THE DUKE'S DIVORCE up on my author blog. It's from page 134, and is a little past the mid-way point. It's a quiet scene in itself, but put back in context with the whole book, it's actually quite climactic. You can find it here. (And I love this part of the new Blogger -- you can click the link and it opens the page in another window so you don't have to click back and forth. Fun stuff. What will they think of next?)

*****

I've been hard at work trying to piece together the remnants of THE LADY'S MASQUERADE. This was the first book I ever finished. Notice I said finished and not wrote. When I first started blogging, I think I posted some excerpts from it, and for those of you who've been with me since then, it's gone through about a bazillion rewrites. It's still about Penny and William and how they get together, and I still love the story, and although nothing much has changed in the plot, the writing is soooo much better. I'm ashamed that I let it go out into the world (to betas and eegad, even to agents) looking the way it did. But hey, 4 years later, I've learned an awful lot.

*****

And this last bit of news I'm sure will thrill you as much as it thrilled me. My father built me a compost tumbler, you know, the barrel shaped things where you put all your eggshells, and banana peels and veggie skins. I can now make dirt. I am beyond excited as in NC all we have is red clay and although stuff grows in it (don't ask me how) I can't dig in it because my hands turn red and it takes forever to get them clean. Gardening gloves are not my thing, I like to feel the dirt between my fingers. So now I'll be able to make all the dirt I want and have the best garden on the street. Yay!

Have a great weekend everyone!

So do you find it hard to keep up both blogs? Do you have different readers at both? Interesting. Good look on the other one - perfect for your writing!

Glad you're excited about the compost tumbler!
Too bad I'm not a breakfast person. I do good to choke down a food bar this early in the morning.

I love that you're revisiting the first work you ever finished. I'm sure any edits will be wonderful. Best of luck with that!!

Yum! Your breakfast sounds delicious. And I loved that scene! :)

Laura -- It is hard to keep up with two blogs. I do have different followers for both, but most are the same. I'm just not sure what to do with it. I know I should just have a stagnant website, but that is just sooo unappealing to me. But maybe. We'll see.

Alex -- That compost tumbler is going to save my garden this year! I don't eat breakfast until lunchtime.

SA -- Oh the edits!!! Oh the edits!!!

That is the perfect breakfast for me. Best of luck with all your work!!

Linda -- Usually I only eat like that on the weekend. It IS the weekend right? And thanks for checking out the scene. Robert is quite shocked.

Christine -- Thanks. I love eggs for breakfast. Well, anytime really.

We have a compost container in the back yard. The mice just love it.

Thanks for breakfast! And now I have a place to put the banana peel I brought with me.

Oh you dirty girl you! And busy...two blogs? Wow, I can hardly keep up with one. And I never thought about composting at my retreat. I DO want to be eco/green and I bet I'll be serving up lots of eggs, any style.
Have a great weekend.

The compost tumbler sounds great. But I have to wear gloves or I'd have no nails at all. I've only had coffee and now you've made me hungry. I read your excerpt and thought it very well written.

Stina -- I know, we have mice and voles, snakes and cockroaches here, so I have to make sure it's faaaaarrrr away from the house.

Betty -- Thanks. Your peel can join my other two and the onion and potato skins from yesterday.

Rick -- Especially if you put them all together in a fajita. Yum!

Em -- It's a great idea if you don't have pigs. And I don't have pigs.

Yvonne -- Sorry to make you hungry. It's what Friday's are all about here at the Piedmont Grille. Thanks for reading.

I think I'm a follower on your other blog but I'm partial to this one. I love the name of it "Piedmont Grill" and it's where I first got acquainted with you and started following you on your writer journey. I'm thrilled that you are doing so well with your Regency romances. Rock on, Anne! And thanks for breakfast :)

Super cool on the compost tumbler!! I bet all that great dirt will make your garden beautiful this spring!

Two eggs over easy, crisp bacon and either home fries or hash browns will do for me. Sometimes I'll switch the bacon and have me some corn beef hash...yea, its only a once in a while thing but I sure do love starting the day with a yummy breakfast...and coffee.

Not many who can truly appreciate the ability to make dirt! :)

Good luck with the compost. Where we live in Georgia, we not only have brick-hard red clay, but chunks of granite everywhere. Where we lived in MD, the soil was so rich, it was almost black. But I've never been industrious enough to try composting.

I see you have been busy, pretty lady! I don't know if I would be able to handle two blogs...heck, I can't even keep up with one! LOL

How sweet of your dad taking the time to build you a compost tumbler.

Have a great day!

Congratulations on being able to make dirt :-)

Karen -- Thanks. People seem partial to this blog because of the lighthouse. But that's okay too.

Johanna -- You cannot even imagine how excited I am to finally get this machine.

Liza -- CBH is good too but it has to be home made not from a can. Unless you put some onion in it. Then double yum.

Don -- But I bet you can.

Susan -- I so miss black or even brown dirt. This red stuff makes me nuts.

Doris -- Good to see you around. I'm not sure I can even keep up with two blogs, but someday maybe I'll have a clue.

Sarah -- Thanks. These are exciting times in my humble little life.
