Aren't they special? They'd rather fish than figure out how to fix a broken relationship. You showed everything that was going through his head and how he chose to react. You even had some humor in there sprinkled with the dramatic moments, which is one of my favorite kinds of storytelling. Of course I never looked at this the same way you did but now that you've pointed out so many things you liked, I have a happy warm glow about me.Anne Gallagherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05816355522284492131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4174226224096540850.post-44840273204696376892010-02-11T08:25:37.113-05:002010-02-11T08:25:37.113-05:00I like this. It’s spot on guy talk.

And his conversation with Dee was dead on. Simple and painful as he flails around, in over his head and unable to make to make it work.

Now he thought it was too late to call.

I’ve been thinking about simple words and their power lately, and I think this really hits that. This line guts me.

He wanted to cry, thought he should, but didn’t know how.

This is elegant, and makes Owen ring true as a character.

What was he supposed to do now?

Again, such a simple question that really just covers it all. And who hasn’t asked themselves this in the midst of bad things happening?

What the fuck did she want from him? He’d never asked.

This may be the saddest line of all. Never asking is usually our biggest regret.

Anyway, congrats on your win. This is a lovely piece.sarahjayne smythehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02589820347348973092noreply@blogger.com
